The General Skilled Migration Visa is best for skilled workers who are willing to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis. To be a skilled worker, you must be a professional in occupations which are sought by the Australian Government. You will also have to meet several requirements e.g. age, qualifications, proficiency in English, work experience.

Skilled Independent

The Skilled Independent Subclass 189 Visa is a permanent General skilled Migration Visa. To obtain this visa, a sponsorship by a State/Territory Government or relative in Australia is not required.

Requirements:

  • Obtain the pass mark of 65 for the skilled migration points test
  • Lodge and EOI and be invited to apply for the visa
  • Age: 18- 44 years old
  • Pass the skills assessment test in an occupation from the occupations List for skilled independent visa
  • Meet thee health and character requirements
  • Have competent English or higher

Skilled State Nomination

The Skilled Nomination subclass 190 visa is a permanent General skilled Migration. This visa requires a nomination by a State or Territory government.

Requirements:

  • Age: 18 and 44 years old.
  • Obtain the pass mark of 65 for the skilled migration points test
  • Lodge an EOI and be invited to apply
  • Be nominated by a State or Territory Government
  • Pass the Skills assessment in an occupation on the state/ territory nominated occupations list.
  • Meet the health and character requirements
  • Have competent English or Higher

Skilled Regional Nomination

The subclass 491 work regional visa is a provisional General skilled migration Visa.

Requirements:

  • Age: 18 and 44 years old
  • Must have holders to live, work and study in regional Victoria
  • Have competent English or higher. Family members over the age of 18  must have functional English.
  • Obtain a positive skill assessment in a particular portion as listed on the the relevant occupation list
  • For family sponsored applicants, this is the Medium-Long Term Skills Shortage List (MLTSSL)
  • For State/Territory nominated applicants, this is the MLTSSL, the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and the Regional Occupation List (ROL) and a State/Territory Occupations List
  • Obtain the pass mark of 65 for the skilled migration points test
  • Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Skill Select system, and be invited to apply
  • Be nominated by a State or Territory Government, or have sponsorship from an eligible family member
  • Meet health and character requirements
